Spiked Melon Agua Fresca

Embrace the colorful melon season with this refreshing spiked agua fresca. Share with friends at an end-of-summer BBQ or sip it poolside with a good book. This drinkable delight pairs well with a prosciutto-filled charcuterie board, grilled chicken with tarragon, or carnitas tacos with heirloom tomato pico de gallo.

Must be 21+. Please drink responsibly.

Ingredients

SERVES 6–8

  • 2 of your favorite ripe melons (I chose canary melons)
  • 5 cups water
  • 16 mint leaves
  • Juice of 3 limes
  • 1 cup agave or ½ cup white granulated sugar
  • Ice
  • 8 ounces of your favorite tequila

Instructions

  • Cut melons in half and scoop out the seeds. Either rinse and freeze them to plant next year or compost them.
  • Cut the melon into slices and carefully remove the skin with a knife.
  • Add cut melon, water, mint, lime juice, and agave or sugar into a blender.
  • Blend on medium until the mint becomes specks of green, about 20 seconds.
  • Prepare a ½ gallon pitcher with plenty of ice and pour the tequila over the ice.
  • Pour the melon mint mixture over the tequila and stir with a spoon.
  • Garnish with melon flowers and sprigs of mint.
