Mulled Apple Cider

Sip the season with this classic mulled cider. Harken crisp falling leaves on a brisk breeze while you simmer away your worries with the flavors and aromas of autumn. 

Bourbon for 21+. Please drink responsibly.

Ingredients for

Mulled Apple Cider

1 ½ quarts of unfiltered apple cider (I chose Smit Farms)

1 honeycrisp apple cut in thin cross-sections

5 cinnamon sticks, 1 for mulling and remaining for each mug

1 orange

1 star anise pod

2 whole cloves 

4 ounces of your favorite bourbon (optional)

Instructions for

Mulled Apple Cider

Juice one half of the orange. Cut the remaining half into thin triangular slices and set aside for garnish.

Add all ingredients, except 4 cinnamon sticks, sliced orange and bourbon if using, into a 2 quart pot.

Simmer on low for ten minutes.

Remove from heat and add bourbon if using and stir.

Pour into mugs and add one cinnamon stick and a slice of orange into each mug.

Pairs well with a good book or an evening stroll
