California's wine history dates back to 1769 when the first vineyards were planted at Mission De Alcalá. Now, San Diego County is home to nearly 100 wineries, two designated American Viticulture Areas (AVAs) and soon to have a few more, and many award-winning wines. Local wineries throughout the region offer tasting opportunities, eateries, and event spaces, while others boast stunning views and fascinating history. Whatever your palate, occasion, or mood, you can plan your own tour with Edible San Diego’s guide.
